Abstract

In addition to the crucial role of teachers in guiding children to memorize the Qur'an, parents also play a significant role in the success of their children's education, including their achievement in memorizing the Qur'an. The process of memorizing the Qur'an must be aligned between the educational goals at school and the activities at home, as relying solely on school-based memorization without repetition at home would be futile in achieving perfect memorization. Therefore, parental attention to children's memorization efforts is a key factor in their success in reaching their memorization targets. This study aims to identify and analyze the role of parental attention in the success of children memorizing the Qur'an. The research was conducted with the parents and students of Imam An Nawawi Islamic Boarding School in Banda Aceh City, particularly those enrolled in the full-day (non-boarding) program, using a psychological perspective. A qualitative-descriptive approach was employed. The results show that children who achieve high and accurate levels of memorization come from families who are attentive to their development, consistently accompanying and motivating them to enhance their memorization and revision (murajaah). Conversely, children who receive less attention regarding their memorization tend to lag behind compared to their peers.
